Navigating Conflict Through Spiritual Direction
By Kathy Talvacchia, Spiritual Director.
Have you ever considered spiritual direction as a resource for mediating conflict in your leadership?
LeaderWise’s Kathy Talvacchia is both a spiritual director and a certified conflict mediator. In our March article “Why Did God Send Me Here?”, she writes about how spiritual direction can help us navigate the storms of conflict constructively:
“Spiritual direction can help to provide greater awareness about our own role, what is ours to do, and what is not ours to do. We can see more clearly that this conflict, in whatever form, is directed at me but not really about me. We also learn that we don’t have to be drawn into other people’s anxieties: “This is an emergency for you, not for me.” Recentering and engaging our sense of call can help us empathize without taking on the anxiety, establish necessary boundaries, and lead from a more strategic place.”
We invite you to meet Kathy online for our free Learning Hour on Wednesday, August 27 at 12 pm CT. Kathy will share insight about how spiritual direction can help us navigate and negotiate conflict. Participants will have a chance to engage the tools during our hour together. You must register to attend our Learning Hour.
LeaderWise is grateful for all our partners and clients, and each of us feels a sense of calling to the work we do. We also recognize that for most of the last five years, leadership has been difficult. To show our appreciation for you and to give you bite-sized learnings on which you can reflect and practice, we are offering quarterly free “learning hour” sessions throughout 2025. Join us to learn about a topic that you might find helpful in your vocation. When you register, you’ll get a free downloadable resource. If the date comes and you can’t attend, no worries. We’ll record the presentation portion (though not the conversation part, rich as they always are), and you’ll be able to watch it later.
We hope you’ll join us this month! Bring a friend!
